BRINGS POSITIVE CHANGE

Welcome

As a psychotherapist in private practice for 40 years, Dr. Brotter's goal is to help any person, couple or family in need of emotional support, self-knowledge, or relief from painful psychological symptoms. While some degree of depression, anxiety and other uncomforatble feelings are a part of life, there are times that external stresses, developmental crises, or emotional challenges of any kind can trigger confusing and pain ful states of mind. Any crisis or pain provides the potential for better understanding of oneself, and new ways of coping and growing. It is the goal of psychotherapy to be helpful in all of these ways, and ultimately to help each individual to create a life that is as meaningful and satisfying as possible.

Dr. Brotter has the educational background, clinical experience and interpersoanl style to help you feel comfortable and able to articulate the areas with which you want help, and then develop a plan to achieve your goals. In addition to working with individuals, Dr. Brotter has expertise in working with couples and families. Working with adolescents is an additional area of specialization provided by Dr. Brotter.

Dr. Brotter was previously on the staff of the New York Hospital-Westchester Division, where he held clinical, supervisory, and administrative positions for more than two decades, and published articles and text-book chapters on various psychological conditions and treatments. He holds a Master's degree from Columbia University, a doctoral degree in Clinical Practice and Administration from New York University, and is on the voluntary faculty of the New York Hospital-Weill Cornell Medical College. Dr. Brotter has worked as the lead clinician in NIMH-funded studies on Depression and Bipolar Disorder, and in addition to his psychotherapy practice, acts as the Clinical Director for Senior Living Behavioral Health.
